I bought a house and this guy ran inside immediately. Apparently the elderly woman who lived here had him, so I guess I have a cat now??

The neighbours have been looking after him from what I gather, but he stays strictly outside. I'm going to speak with them and see what happens from there. He sleeps in my garden all day and spent the first three days trying to get in the house before a friend filled me in on who he is.

When I finally let him in he bolted to the master bedroom and purred loudly in there for like 10 minutes ✔✔

ElixirCXVII. 6d ago Make him an indoor cat if he's looking to retire from the outdoor life! Might be the old owner didn't let him in and he's actually cool with it

⋅ palochato 6d ago This is exactly how I got my cat! The neighbors had to explain that I had moved into her house. It took a minute for her to get used to the new inhabitants but she became my bff for seven years, through several other moves, til she passed away at the ripe old age of 19 this summer. I can't imagine the neighbors who introduced us assumed she made it that long. RIP Miss Kitty

"He sleeps in my garden all day and spent the first three days trying to get in the house before a friend filled me in on who he is." its funny and sad at the same time. he knows he lives there so he wanted in. but you didnt and someone had to tell you "who he is" then he was so happy to be back in and purring happy. take care of them, they know they belong there. <3

GoblinTroublema... . 6d ago This is really sad. Cats are like little babies. He misses his owner and his house which brought him safety and comfort. They are not huge fans of change. He's likely very mentally distressed. Even having a little familiarity back in his life brought him more peace than he has had in a while.

supermariobruhh . 6d ago This boy has probably lived his entire life in this one house and it's all he knows. All of a sudden things are different, but he sees you being nice to him and it's very likely helping him ease into his new normal with you. Hoping you guys get along well!

Flimsy-Sprinkles... 6d ago • There is an old Russian custom/tale/superstition that says when you first buy a house, the room the cat makes itself comfortable in, is the best room of the house. It's really good luck for a cat to enter your new house!
